Today, I am thrilled to share the remarkable journey of Mixim Notes — a notetaking app that has achieved statistics beyond my expectations. With 110* signed users, 600* website visitors, and 1000* website reach our dedicated team of talented individuals defied limitations, unlocked our potential, and crafted something truly extraordinary, all while managing our full-time jobs.

Chapter 1: The Birth of a Vision

From its very inception, Mixim Notes was a flicker of an idea within my mind. Inspired by my daily use of Notion to manage office projects, I embarked on a mission to create a notetaking experience that would provide individuals with a space, a blank screen, and a digital draft to initiate.

My intention was never to create an extraordinary business idea or a groundbreaking piece of software. Rather, I aimed to develop powerful tools that would cater to people like myself — individuals seeking a platform to think and generate ideas without being overwhelmed by features.

While I have used several productivity tools, none of them offered the features I desired in a free plan. Its obvious to have a pricing if you are offering premium features and computation cost, yet I couldn’t envision myself settling for basic features.

In an era where the internet has shifted to the cloud, demanding constant connectivity, I envisioned a solution that would work seamlessly everywhere. I aspired to develop a tool as powerful as existing options, with clean design and robust engineering. I believed this was possible, guided by the mantra:

“If you cannot solve your own problem, you can never solve others.”

And thus, the vision was born.

Chapter 2: A Symphony of Collaboration

Ideas flowed incessantly through my mind as a creative professional. It was natural for me to have countless concepts and visions. However, I recognized that I couldn’t bring my vision of Mixim Notes to life alone. Attempting to handle full-stack development, product design, and marketing single-handedly would have consumed at least 7 to 8 months.

I firmly believe in the power of collaboration, as greatness is rarely achieved in isolation. Fortunately, I was surrounded by exceptionally talented individuals who, despite their remarkable skills, lacked the self-belief to accomplish extraordinary things.

To my delight, when I shared my idea during a Discord call, they eagerly joined me on this journey. With an unwavering commitment to excellence, our team coalesced — comprising a passionate and creative product designer, a talented front-end developer, and a wizard of backend engineering. Each team member brought unique strengths and perspectives, blending harmoniously to shape Mixim Notes into the product i envisioned.

Chapter 3: Crafting Excellence Through Design and Engineering

The development of Mixim Notes extended far beyond the mere realization of an idea — it entailed creating a product that would make the notetaking experience more delightful. To achieve this, we recognized the paramount importance of exceptional design and engineering.

So, how do I manage time? Let me tell you.

We all have enough time to do things we like. Don’t tell me you don’t have time. That's a lame excuse.

One of my personal goals throughout this project was to gain experience in project management. While it may be commonly believed that larger teams result in faster product development, we began with a small team. Delegation is not always feasible: Sometimes, team members may be occupied, making it impractical to delegate tasks to them. In such cases, it becomes essential to invest your efforts and find ways to move forward.

Meetings can often be counterproductive: Instead of lengthy discussions, we adopted brief 5- to 10-minute calls for updates. This allowed us to stay focused, avoid unnecessary tangents, and keep the momentum going.

Timelines can be overrated; milestones carry more significance: We learned to celebrate every small win along the way. Each achievement, whether it was the successful implementation of authentication or another milestone, brought us closer to our ultimate vision.
